Regular meetings are held on the third Monday of
each month, with the September meeting designated as the annual
general meeting when members elect a slate of Executive officers to
serve for one year. MAARC, Inc. holds an informal
gathering of its members each Wednesday morning at the club rooms on
Halifax St., located at the corner of Halifax and Bevin Street. just
across from the old Martitime Orthopedic.look for the tower and
antennas. Here members engage in social discourse, operate
club radio facilities and peruse the latest radio publications.
Senior members requiring transportation to the Club rooms are

The Club station
operates from the Myrick Wireless Interpretation Centre at Cape
Race, NF. The Centre is a replica of the Marconi
Station that went on the air n Nov. 17th, 1904. It is the
site where Cape Race received all the Distress Traffic from the
RMS Titanic on April 14th, l912, Cape Race let the rest of the
world know through the Underwater Cable Systems that connected
North America via Cape Ray, NL and to Europe via Hearts Content
NL. Contrary to some local opinion, Admiralty House in
St John's didn't play any part in the Titanic Disaster.
It wasn't built until 1914, some two years after The Titanic
sank. The call sign of our station is VO1MCE (MCE was the
call sign of Cape Race Radio from 1904 until 1913 when it was
changed to VCE, which was in use until 1967).
We invite all
Amateur,and professional radio operators to come and visit
us at Cape Race in 2012, with ongoing events to commemorate
the 100th anniversary of The Titanic Disaster.

has a semi-permanent station at the Heart's Content Cable Museum.
Sept 7th is the anniversary of the laying of the 1st
successful trans Atlantic telegraph cable and for the past 2 years
we have hosted a Special Event Station at the museum on that
date celebrating that event using the club call sign VO1TAC (Trans
Atlantic Cable) This will continue as an annual event but the date
may change in order to keep it on a weekend.. |
