After
many fits and starts, I have finally put together the 2005 results for CCC.
As
usual there were lots of entries from Canada this year. In the 17 contests that make up a part of CCC, the highest
participation was in the RAC Canada Day Contest with 142 Canadian entries.
The smallest Canadian contingent, only 21, entered the RSGB IOTA contest.
The average number of entries over all contests was 62. This will be the maximum number of points available for the
2007 CCC.
The
winners:
In
the High Power category, VE3AT, Ron Vanderkraats continues to be the one to
beat. Ron entered a total of 8 of
the major contests and placed first in Canada in 5 of them.
In the other 3 he placed second in Canada for a grand total of 477
points, only 3 points short of a perfect score. Ron’s best five score is a
perfect 300. Congratulations Ron.
Other certificate winners at High Power were: VO1AU, VE3XN, VE6WQ, VE7JKZ
and VE5CPU. See the table below for
a listing of the scores of the top 10 scorers in each power category.
In
the Low Power category, VE3DZ, Yuri Onipko, was the winner.
Yuri entered a total of 11 contests for a grand total of 497 points and a
best five total of 281. Other certificate winners are: VE5SF, VE2AWR, VE3KP,
VE7XF, VE6EX, VA1CHP, VO1HE, VE9DX and VE4YU.
This
year participation in QRP was up considerably over previous years.
There were a total of 34 operators who entered at least one contest and 6
entered at least 4 to qualify for a certificate.
Most of the really active QRP operators seem to be concentrated in
VE3-land. The winner overall was VA3DF, Doug Ferris, who entered
10 contests, got a grand total score of 321 and a best five of 229.
VE3KZ and VE9QRP get the other certificates.
The
following table shows the top ten scorers in each category. Not all of the certificate winners appear here, because not
all of them were in the top ten.
This
being my last report on CCC, I must say that I have enjoyed doing this little
job for the last 14 or 15 years. I
believe that CCC is having a positive effect on contesting in Canada.
Don Cassel, VE3XD has agreed to take over compiling the results for 2006.
Thank you, Don. I am not
retiring from contesting, far from it. I
will see you in the pileups for many years to come.
Thanks
again to all who helped me in the past to get the scores compiled and correct
over the years.
