Amateur Radio Emergency Service

Support Fund

The Amateur Radio Emergency Service is an important community resource providing emergency communications in time of disaster. 

Trained, equipped, competent operators volunteer their time, equipment and expertise to supplement or provide back-up to normal means of communications that have been disrupted or overloaded, by natural or man-made disasters. 

As the sponsor of the ARES in Canada, Radio Amateurs of Canada (R.A.C.), through its Field Services Organization, endeavours to provide support to those volunteers, including training, nationally-recognized documentation and ARES-branded wearing apparel.  (NOTICE: The RAC AMATEUR RADIO EMERGENCY SERVICE & DESIGN trade-mark is owned by Radio Amateurs of Canada Incorporated. Any and all use of the RAC AMATEUR RADIO EMERGENCY SERVICE & DESIGN trade-mark requires a written licence or permission from Radio Amateurs of Canada Incorporated.)

In order to provide that support, R.A.C. depends upon membership by Radio Amateurs.  The larger the number of members, the more able R.A.C. is to bring new or improved methods of support by underwriting at least some of the associated costs.

Donors, such as those listed below, are extremely important in assisting that support, especially since there are so many Radio Amateurs who fail to support their national Amateur Radio society even though they, too, benefit from R.A.C.'s work.  It is not surprising, then, that a large number of donors are also members of R.A.C.  They recognize not only the value of R.A.C. but of the ARES.

ALL donations are used to support the ARES and its goals. The R.A.C. Field Services Organization extends heartfelt thanks to all individuals, clubs, groups and others who have recognized the need to support the ARES by making a financial donation, large or small.  Every dollar counts.
