IARU President and RAC member appointed Queen’s Counsel

Every two years, it is tradition in the province of Alberta that selected lawyers be recognized for their outstanding contributions to the legal profession or in public life by being appointed as Queen’s Counsel. On the December 31th announcement from Attorney General Jonathan Denis, Q.C, that Mr. Timothy S. Ellam, VE6SH was one of the lawyers appointed to the province’s Queen Counsel status. Tim served as counsel and in other executive positions RAC and one of its predecessor organizations from 1990 to 1999. He became actively involved in the International Amateur Radio Union (IARU) as an expert on legal matters, was elected as Vice President in 2004, and is currently IARU President. In 1991, Tim was retained to incorporate DARF as a trust.

RAC President Geoff Bawden, VE4BAW on behalf of all members and amateurs in Canada, extends his sincere congratulations to Tim Ellam for this prestigious appointment.
