Rob Noakes, VE3PCP | VE3IHR

The Inverhuron Ham Radio Club

VE3IHR, The Inverhuron Ham Radio Club, was founded in January 2018 by Rob Noakes, Advanced Radio Amateur VE3PCP and his family in Inverhuron, Ontario.

Our club is a youth-oriented club that promotes the fun side of Amateur Radio through many activities both in Public and in Private throughout each year.

Yearly activities include ARRL Filed Day, International Lighthouse Lightship Weekend, Jamboree on the Air with both Girl Guides and Scouts.

Over the last year, we have become engaged in Emergency Communications support for the Municipality of Kincardine, Ontario.

In 2021, we set up our HF Remote Station that covers 7 bands and uses a Kenwood TS850 and RemoteHams software.

In late 2021 and into 2022, we established an International YL and Youth group with 7 YLs and 4 Youth from 5 different countries. As a group, we operate our remote HF station with Rob, VE3PCP, in station and supervising the operation. We are promoting Ham Radio Spirit through our operations.

We now have three club call signs.

  • VE3IHR is our main club call sign.
  • VA3YLR is for our YL and Youth Remote Operations.
  • VA3KEO is for Emergency Operations.

We have a dedicated mobile shack that we use for our many operations that has various antenna mounts as well as deep cycle battery and generator power.

By the end of 2022, we will be adding a second Remote Station. The new one will be a Dual Band VHF/UHF station and will also use RemoteHams as does our HF Remote Station.
