On April 1st, 1999, the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) celebrated its 75th Anniversary. To commemorate this important moment in Canadian military history, the Borden Amateur Radio Klub (BARK), in conjunction with the RCAF 75th Anniversary Committee obtained permission from Industry Canada to use the Special callsign CF3R from Canadian Forces Base Borden, the birthplace of the RCAF.

SPECIAL EVENT STATION CF7QRT

1999 saw the closure of Portishead Radio and most of the UK radiotelegraphy and radiotelephony coast stations. Amateur Radio Special Events were held to mark these significant and historic events. 
To this end, there were 46 stations on the air on April 10/11th 1999. Of these, many were on the air during the whole month of April. CF7QRT  operated from NRS Aldergrove BC utilizing CW/SSB on the HF bands.

The Peace Country Amateur Radio Club in Grande Prairie, Alberta celebrated its 20th Anniversary in January of 1999, To help celebrate it, we operated a special event station January 16th & 17th 1999. The Special Event Station was in operation starting at 1900 UTC Saturday and running until 2200 UTC Sunday.

Industry Canada  approved the Special Prefix CF9 for Fredericton Amateurs from April 12 to April 25, 1998.
All amateurs who live in the City of Fredericton were encouraged to celebrate the City of Fredericton's 150th Anniversary by using CF9 instead of their usual (VE9 or VE1) prefix during that time period.


Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps, of Weyburn Saskatchewan celebrated it’s 50th Anniversary starting December 1997 with activities planned into May 1998.

The Corps was formed December 11, 1947; to help commemorate it’s formation the Weyburn Amateur Radio Club (WARC) were authorized by Industry Canada to use the special prefix "CF5" for 2 weeks Starting December 22nd 1997 to January 5th, 1998. In addition the Commanding Officer of 2302 RCArmyCC is issuing special commemorative certificates which will be issued to amateurs who have worked at least three (3) contacts of WARC members, using the CF5 Prefix. SWL’s are welcome to participate.

Contacts can be on any band and any mode, including repeaters. When a station is worked it can not be worked again on another band or mode. One station, one contact.
