RAC Bulletin 2012-063E - *Hurricane Sandy heading our way*
2012-10-28

Hurricane Sandy lies 535 kms south of Cape Hatteras with sustained winds of 120 kms per hour and is travelling NW. Tuesday morning Sandy is expected to make landfall in the eastern US as a large powerful cyclone, but before entering southern Ontario late Tuesday, it is expected to be significantly weakened. That said, folks in Southern and Eastern Ontario need to prepare for high winds and rain.

During this time operators are encouraged to monitor all IARU center of activity frequencies (COA) and the RAC HF Emergency Communications Frequencies. As well, while monitoring local repeaters, please be extra vigilant in case your assistance is needed. Hopefully this storm will pass with no significant impact.

73,

Doug Mercer CEC VO1DTM/VO1DM
Chief Field Services Officer
