Tropical depression one information statement issued by the Canadian hurricane centre of Environment Canada at 12.35 PM ADT Thursday 28 May 2009.

... First tropical depression of 2009 May brush canadian waters ...

1. Current position, strength, central pressure and motion

At 12.00 noon ADT... Tropical depression one was located near Latitude 37.3 N and longitude 71.0 W... About 455 nautical miles Or 843 km southwest of Yarmouth. Maximum sustained winds Are estimated at 30 knots... 56 km/h... And central pressure at 1007 MB. One is moving east northeast at 15 knots... 28 km/h.

2. General forecast

The us national hurricane center is forecasting this system to approach gale force as it skirts the outer reaches of the Georges Bank and west Scotian Slope waters tomorrow. They also forecast This system to track through the southern Grand Banks on Saturday But only as a depression with winds below gale strength.

The Canadian hurricane Centre is not planning to issue updated bulletins with this system. However we are maintaining a close Vigil and will commence routine bulletins should it appear that Gales may move into Canadian waters.

No impacts over Canadian land areas are expected.
