Special Event Station VE7IYOA starts Monday 1st June

VE7IYOA will be on-the-air on Monday June 1st from Sir James Douglas School, 401 Moss Street in Fairfield Victoria B.C. from 5 - 10pm PDT. From the same location the Victoria Centre of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada is presenting an International Year of Astronomy Event a "Night Sky Viewing" Star Party to the Fairfield Community and the day will be a cooperative activity with of both Amateur Radio and Amateur Astronomy.

There will be telescope displays, Children activities and Multi Media Presentations and outside in the soccer field Astronomical Telescopes will be setup and available for day and night-time viewing.

Also in attendance members of the Westcoast Amateur Radio Association and the Victoria Emergency Management Agency Communications Vehicle providing radio equipment for the VE7IYOA Station.

VE7IYOA will be monitoring the IRLP Vancouver Reflector 9005 from 5pm PDT to 10:00pm PDT, with a break for the WARA Net from 7 - 7:30pm. Those wishing to contact the station during net time are welcome to listen and encouraged to check in at the appropriate time.

HF Communications on 75 meters will also be monitored near 3.735 - 3.740 MHz for interested amateurs whishing to contact them.

VE7IYOA Commemorates the 400th Anniversary of Galileo Galilei's first look atthe sky through an Optical Instrument.

A QSL card will be available to those that contact the Station.
