"Amateur radio is a great way for students and teachers to reach out and bring the world, and space, into the classroom."
Robert (Bob) Thirsk - Radio Amateur VA3CSA, Canadian Astronaut, Mechanical Engineer, Medical Doctor

Radio Amateurs of Canada is very pleased to have the support of Dr. Thirsk for the Youth Education Program. He is well known in elementary schools across Canada for national education projects in science and mathematics. His work with projects such as Tomatosphere and Canolab, which focused on growing tomato and canola plants from space flown seeds, has reached thousands of classrooms across the country. Today, he continues to participate in the development of curriculum projects, such as Space for Species, a program designed to allow Canadian students to monitor the movements and habitats of various migratory animals.

Dr. Thirsk, along with classroom teachers around the world, recognize that amateur radio is a great way for students and teachers to reach out and bring the world, and space, into the classroom. Teachers across Canada are invited to take part in the Youth Education Program.
