The RAC Board is pleased to announce that former RAC Atlantic Director Ev Price, VO1DK, has been appointed as a Trustee for the Canadian Amateur Radio Hall of Fame (CARHOF). Ev will be representing the province of Newfoundland and Labrador for a three-year term from September 2017 until September 2020.

“Everett (Ev) Price, VO1DK, commenced his initial career in communications as a Communications Officer serving with the Royal Canadian Air Force. His subsequent decision to move into the private sector also resulted in a career path transition from communications to Health Physics. A former career in communications then became an enjoyable hobby and Ev has been the holder of a Canadian Advanced Amateur Certificate and the call sign VO1DK in excess of 30 years. He has explored most aspects of the hobby and continues to enjoy DXing on HF as well as ragchewing on both HF and VHF.

Ev served as the RAC Director for the Atlantic Region from January 2011 until December 2016. He is a Past-President of the Society of Newfoundland Radio Amateurs (SONRA) and a member of the Radio Amateurs of Canada.

In addition to his personal enjoyment of the hobby at his home station, he is a member of the Admiralty House (Communications) Museum Board of Directors and currently manages VO1BZM, the Society of Newfoundland Radio Amateur’s official Marconi site station as well as CICQ, the commercial tourism radio station located in the Admiralty House Museum. Through VO1BZM he encourages the participation of youth, the public generally and tourism in Amateur Radio.”

Ev is replacing former CARHOF Trustee Frank Davis, VO1HP, who became the Chair of the Board of Trustees following the retirement of Ed Frazer, VE7EF, from the position. Frank was appointed to this position by the RAC Board of Directors at its meeting on July 27. He assumed the new role in September in time for the closing of the Hall of Fame Nomination process on September 29 and is pleased to announce that several nominations have been received.

The 10 Board of Trustee members from across Canada will now receive documentation from the Chair and will proceed to review the nominees. It is expected that an announcement regarding the appointment(s) will be made by the RAC Board of Directors before December 31, 2017.
