Radio Amateur operators who will visit Brazil for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games will be able to be on air without bureaucracy.
During August and September any foreign Amateur will be able to operate in Brazil regardless of the existence of a reciprocity agreement between countries. No IARP or CEPT licence is necessary as well. No fees are required.
The Brazilian Amateur Radio League (LABRE) has filed a request and obtained this special permission from ANATEL, the Brazilian Telecommunication authority.
The Amateurs who want to operate in Brazil must send the following documents to LABRE:
- a copy of a valid passport (identification pages)
- a copy of an Amateur Radio certificate of his/her country
- a list of cities in which he/she intends to operate and the respective periods
- an email address for contact
