ARES news: June 8, 2016 at 6 pm EST
As Colin speeds away from Newfoundland and Labrador (NL), your assistance in monitoring ARES emergency frequencies is appreciated, but you are requested to now “stand down”.
NL ARES members are reminded that at 9:00 pm NL time tonight we will activate a CANWARN net as moisture from Colin and a converging low bring heavy rain and flooding to most NL regions.
When you check in, please provide Net Control with current observations from you area.
Your usual cooperation is appreciated.

Good evening. This is a 48 hours out heads up to mostly Maritime ARES members. Tropical storm Colin is now moving through Florida and is causing many Counties to declare a state of emergency. The storm is moving to the northeast and is due to arrive in Newfoundland coastal waters overnight Wednesday. Current models show large amounts of rain with localized flooding likely.
As the storm approaches, ARES members are encouraged to monitor the RAC ARES emergency frequencies as follows:
3.675, 7.135, 14.135, 18.135, 21.235 and 28.235.
Newfoundland ARES members are advised that the regular evening Caribou VHF Net will be in the form of a CANWARN activation, and you are asked to report current weather conditions for your area when you are called in by Net Control.
Thanks for your usual cooperation.
