Amateur Radio on the International Space Station (ARISS) has received schedule confirmation for an ARISS radio contact between an astronaut aboard the International Space Station (ISS) and participants at the Youth on the Air (YOTA) Summer Camp 2023 located in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
ARISS conducts 60-80 of these special Amateur Radio contacts each year between students around the globe and crew members with Amateur Radio licenses aboard the ISS.
The ARISS radio contact is scheduled for July 18, 2023 at 2:42:54 pm EDT (ON, CAN) (18:42:54 UTC, 1:42 pm CDT, 12:42 pm MDT, 11:42 am PDT).

Le camp organisé à l’intention des jeunes opérateurs radio amateurs d’Amérique du Nord, centrale et du Sud exploitera la station pour événement spécial VE3YOTA du 16 au 21 juillet 2023; il offrira l’occasion de contacter la Station spatiale internationale, de réaliser une activation de type Parks on the Air (POTA), et d’assister aux cérémonies d’ouverture et de clôture qui seront retransmises sur YouTube par diffusion continue.
OTTAWA, Ontario, Canada – Youth On The Air (YOTA) campers will be operating special event station VE3YOTA from the camp at Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, and the Diefenbunker Cold War Museum in Carp, Ontario, Canada. Additionally, campers will activate a two-for-one POTA location.
Activation of the VE3YOTA call sign will begin on Sunday, July 16 and conclude at 2 pm on Friday, July 21. Youth will operate the station as they finish projects, between sessions, and during free time.
In addition, dedicated HF station operating times will be: Monday, July 17 through Wednesday, July 19 from 2300Z to 0230Z (7 pm to 10:30 pm EDT).
Dedicated satellite station operating time will be: Wednesday, July 19 from 1400Z to 1700Z (10 am to 1 pm EDT).
Fifteen QRP stations will activate a two-for-one Parks on the Air (POTA) location, Central Experimental Farm National Historic Site (VE-5095) and Rideau Canal National Historic Site (VE-4882) on 40m, 20m, 15m and 10m.
Weather permitting, the activation will be on the air on Tuesday, July 18 from 1900Z to 2100Z (3 pm to 5 pm EDT) and Thursday, July 20 from 1300Z to 1600Z (9 am to noon EDT).
The opening and closing ceremonies and the International Space Station contact will be streamed live on the Youth on the Air YouTube channel. The opening ceremony is Sunday, July 16 from 2100Z to 2315Z, and will feature keynote speaker Phil McBride, VA3QR, the President of Radio Amateurs of Canada.
The ARISS contact is currently scheduled to take place on Tuesday, July 18 at 1842Z (2:42 pm EDT). The closing ceremony is Friday, July 21 from 1500Z to 1600Z (11 am to noon EDT).
The channel will also feature a daily highlight video spotlighting the activities of the previous day.

Par ailleurs les campeurs pourront activer un emplacement POTA selon le système deux-pour-un.
L’activation de l’indicatif VE3YOTA commencera le dimanche 16 juillet et s’achèvera à 14 H le vendredi 21 juillet. Les jeunes exploiteront la station après avoir mis la dernière main aux projets entrepris, entre les séances et pendant leurs temps libres.
D’autre part, les périodes expressément consacrées à l’exploitation de la station en mode HF seront comprises dans le créneau suivant : du lundi 17 juillet au mercredi 19, de 2300Z à 0230Z (19 h à 22 h 30, HAE).
La période d’exploitation expressément consacrée aux communications par satellite sera comprise dans le créneau ménagé le mercredi 19 juillet, de 1400Z à 1700Z (10 h à 13 h, HAE).
Quinze stations QRP activeront un emplacement POTA selon le système deux-pour-un, à savoir le Lieu historique national du Canada de la Ferme expérimentale centrale (VE-5095) et le Lieu historique national du Canal-Rideau (VE-4882) sur 40 m, 20 m, 15 m et 10 m.
Pour autant que les conditions météorologiques s’y prêtent, l’activation aura lieu le mardi
18 juillet de 1900Z à 2100Z (15 h à 17 h, HAE) et le jeudi 20 juillet de 1300Z à 1600Z (9 h à midi HAE).
Les cérémonies d’ouverture et de clôture, de même que le contact avec la Station spatiale internationale, seront retransmis en direct par diffusion continue sur le canal YouTube des Jeunes sur les ondes.
La cérémonie d’ouverture aura lieu le dimanche 16 juillet de 2100Z à 2315Z, et le discours-programme sera prononcé par Phil McBride, VA3QR, président de Radio Amateurs du Canada.
Il est actuellement prévu que le contact ARISS aura lieu le mardi 18 juillet à 1842Z (14 h 42, HAE). La cérémonie de clôture se tiendra le vendredi 21 juillet, de 1500Z à 1600Z (de 11 h à midi, HAE).
Le canal YouTube permettra également de visionner chaque jour une vidéo mettant l’accent sur les principales activités menées au cours de la journée précédente.
