Radio Amateurs of Canada (RAC) is the national association for Amateur Radio in Canada and represents all Canadian Amateurs at all levels of government. Speaking on behalf of Canadian Radio Amateurs, RAC provides liaison with government agencies and carries the Amateur voice about regulatory and spectrum issues to the discussion table with government and industry leaders, nationally and internationally.

Radio Amateurs of Canada is the Canadian voting member society of the International Amateur Radio Union (IARU). RAC’s membership journal – The Canadian Amateur (TCA) magazine, Canada’s premiere national magazine devoted to Amateur Radio – is published six times per year and is available in both print and digital (eTCA) formats as a benefit to RAC members.

Radio Amateurs of Canada has received the sad news that RAC Vice-President Brent Taylor, VY2HF, became a Silent Key on May 21, 2026, at the age of 66.

The sudden loss of Brent has deeply shocked Radio Amateurs of Canada and the Amateur Radio community across Canada and beyond. RAC extends its sincere condolences to Brent’s wife Janice, his family, friends, and the many people whose lives he touched through his years of service to Amateur Radio and public life.

RAC Contest Rules 2025: Canada Day and Canada Winter Contests

Radio Amateurs of Canada sponsors two radio sport contests each year.

The RAC Canada Day Contest celebrating Canada’s Birthday on Confederation Day and a celebration of the winter holiday season with the Canada Winter Contest.

Amateurs all over the world are invited to join us in these celebrations.
