Radio Amateurs of Canada has received the sad news that former RAC Vice-President, Ian MacFarquhar, VE9IM, became a Silent Key on April 8, 2025, at the age of 75.

The Battle Harbour National Historic Trust has two of the last paired Marconi Towers to be found anywhere.

We are currently in a competition to win $50K to have funds to fix them up and make sure they stand for another 100 years. 

The iconic Battle Harbour Marconi Towers, are a symbol of Labrador’s connection to the world! Originally built in 1906 and rebuilt in 1931, this Marconi station transmitted groundbreaking messages including Admiral Peary’s North Pole expedition in 1909.

Changes to the RAC Challenge – January 2025

Radio Amateurs of Canada (RAC) Contests and Awards Committee is pleased to announce the following changes to the RAC  Canadian Portable Operations Challenge.

We have made some changes to the points system to try and keep the race a little tighter, differentiate mobile operations, and continue to encourage contacts on less used frequency bands on both ends of the spectrum.

Le comité des concours et diplômes RAC a le plaisir d’annoncer les changements suivants au programme des diplômes RAC.

Nous avons fait quelques changements au systême de pointage afin de rendre la course un peu plus serrée, de différencier les opérations mobiles, et de continuer à encourager des contacts sur les bandes de fréquences un peu moins utilisées des deux extrémités du spectre.
