Commonwealth Contest: March 8-9, 2025
Concours du Commonwealth, 8 et 9 mars 2025
The annual Commonwealth Contest (CC) takes place very soon from 1000z Saturday, March 8 to 0959z Sunday March 9. This 24-hour CW-only contest takes place on the five HF contest bands (80, 40, 20, 15 and 10 metres).
Once known as the “BERU,” the CC involves Amateurs in the 56 member countries of the Commonwealth of Nations and their associated territories only. This gives us an exclusive shot at some very interesting DX.
This contest has been around since 1931, and this year there are a few big changes:

- The contest is now a partnership of the International Amateur Radio Union’s (IARU) member societies for Canada (Radio Amateurs of Canada – RAC), Australia (Wireless Institute of Australia – WIA), India (Amateur Radio Society of India – ARSI), New Zealand (New Zealand Association of Radio Transmitters – NZART) and the United Kingdom (Radio Society of Great Britain – RSGB).
- Entry categories have been adjusted to be more similar to other major contests.
- Intercontinental QSOs are now worth twice as many points.

“HQ” stations have a special status in this contest, and for the first time, the station at RAC HQ will be active: VE3RHQ will be operated by Mike Kelly, VE3FFK. Other RAC call signs will be activated across Canada.
There will also be HQ stations from many parts of the Commonwealth, with several in each of the United Kingdom and Australia.

Le Concours du Commonwealth (CC) annuel aura lieu très bientôt, de 10 h 00 UTC le samedi 8 mars à 9 h 59 UTC le dimanche 9 mars. D’une durée 24 heures, ce concours réservé aux communications en code Morse se déroule sur les cinq bandes utilisées pour les compétitions (80, 40, 20, 15 et 10 mètres).
Autrefois connu sous le nom de « BERU », le CC est uniquement réservé aux radio amateurs des 56 pays membres du Commonwealth des Nations et des territoires associés. Cela nous offre une excellente occasion de contacter certaines stations DX très intéressantes. Ce concours existe depuis 1931, et il va connaître quelques changements importants cette année, à savoir :

- Le concours est désormais un partenariat entre les sociétés membres de l’IARU pour le Canada (RAC), l’Australie (WIA), l’Inde (ARSI), la Nouvelle-Zélande (NZART), et le Royaume-Uni (RSGB).
- Les différentes catégories de participation ont été ajustées pour établit une concordance plus étroite avec d’autres concours importants.
- Les QSO intercontinentaux valent désormais deux fois plus de points.

Les stations « HQ » ont un statut spécial dans ce concours. Pour la première fois, la station du siège de RAC, VE3RHQ, sera active; elle sera exploitée par Mike, VE3FFK. D’autres indicatifs RAC seront activés dans tout le Canada.
Il y aura également des stations « HQ » dans de nombreuses régions du Commonwealth, notamment au Royaume-Uni et en Australie, plusieurs d’entre elles étant exploitées dans chacun de ces pays.
